Place: Maharashtra & Goa States-India

Introduction:

Health is the real wealth and without proper health nothing can be done and anything to achieve in life one needs a perfect health and this depends upon many factors. If one is born fortunately in a good wealthy or at least a middle class family, parents take care of their children health right from the childhood and look after them by providing nutritious food and healthy living conditions. Unfortunately this is not true in case of poor people and as they grow in meagre living conditions and due to lack of proper health facilities, can suffer and ultimately end up in low living.

Project Details:

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba of India has inspired millions of public across the globe and initiated them to serve the fellow human beings with pure love and without discrimination of colour, creed, caste, religion and Nationality etc. In fact he has shown to the world that selfless service is the real application of spirituality and when someone is suffering with poor health condition one’s prayers must be turned to serve the ill health people and save them from diseases. Having blessings and grace by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Maharashtra State in India has launched a massive health care project commonly known as ‘Medicare’ to serve the villagers at their door step with complete medical facilities. Bhagawan has told the organisers “Do not wait for the opportunity to serve, go out and grab the opportunity which is already available”.

Mobile Medical vans have been acquired with in-built testing equipment and were pressed into action after a formal inauguration by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Hospitals & Clinics play a useful role but a vast number of diseases can be nipped in the bud by providing timely treatment and thus avoiding complicated treatment at a later stage.  The Mobile Dispensary is the “MOST VIABLE ALTERNATIVE” in terms of cost, time and manpower resources.

Joint purchase of medicines and tie-ups has been done to manufacture exclusive range of medicines.  “Americare India” is supporting this project with the free supply of medicines to a limited extent.

Statistical Report of Mobile Medicare Project of SSSSO Maharashtra & Goa – 31st March 2016

The Mobile Medicare Project had launched with the Blessings of Bhagawan in July 2008, Till date i.e as of March 2016, over 3.9 million patients were provided with free medical aid across Maharashtra & Goa.

Over 45000 patients are receiving treatment every month for a wide variety of diseases including hypertension, diabetes, allergies, digestive, respiratory, gynaec and other ailments. The mobile dispensaries are fully equipped with a range of medicines and equipments for diagnosis and treatment of patients. The medical vans are the most viable alternative in terms of cost, time and manpower resources, to reach out to distant and also remote areas.

CURRENTLY, 52 MOBILE VANS ARE FUNCTIONING ACROSS MAHARASHTRA & GOA IN OVER 27 DISTRICTS. IT IS PLANNED, WITH BHAGAWAN’S GRACE, TO HAVE 108 VANS OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS IN A PHASED MANNER.

One of the notable facts over the years is that these vans have expanded their scope and were also used to propagate children character development (Sathya Sai Bala Vikas), Prayers like Spiritual Singing (Bhajans) and distribution of Health/Nutrition Biscuits. Bhagawan’s videos are being shown at places and posters on health and hygiene are displayed by some vans.

Positive Results:

The health standards of inmates of the adopted villages have improved significantly over the period and their ability to work hard and improve their economic status has gone up, resulting in true empowerment.A centralized hub has been established with proper drug licenses for acquiring, storing and distributing high quality medicines to all the mobile dispensaries.

Future Plans:

  • The Mobile Medicare Project seeks to cover the whole state of Maharashtra and Goa, and by Bhagawan’s 95th Birthday it aims to treat over 50 lakhs or 5 millions patients. The Project aims at providing basic healthcare to over 20 lakh patients annually over a phased manner. Already extensive work is being done to provide free cataract surgery to thousands across the states of Maharashtra & Goa. It is planned to establish a disaster & emergency service in times of need in all areas where the mobile vans operate.
  • Sevadal and Mahilas to educate Sai colony inmates and residents of adopted villages on Health, Hygiene, Nutrition and Sanitation. We invite our well-wishers to join us on our visits to villages and help to create awareness about the nobility of this Divine Service to our fellow human beings.
